Why should I buy traditional TDM (Time Division Multiplex) telephones in today's marketplace?

Purchasing may not be your best choice in today's technology environment, where changes and upgrades can make purchased equipment outdated and ineffective in the converging telecommunications world.  A better solution could lie in a Hosted System that is capable of being upgraded from our control points.  In addition, the costs of maintenance would be greatly reduced as these functions are administered by your Host provider.  Saving you money, while keeping you abreast of current improvements, and making you more efficient and productive.

Briefly, what is VoIP?

VoIP allows you to make telephone calls over an existing Internet connection, thus providing great savings over traditional phone costs and tolls.  VoIP converts a voice signal (analog) from your telephone into a digital signal that then travels over the Internet to the desired location.  It then converts the digital signal back to analog so that the person on the other end can hear what you are saying.

What kind of equipment do I need to use VoIP?

You need three things in order to use VoIP:
-A high-speed Internet connection (either cable or DSL)
-A broadband phone adapter (provided by the VoIP service provider);
-Any standard analog or digital telephone

There is no difference when placing a local or long distance call when using VoIP.  They are made in the same way as traditional calls; when dialing local calls, all you have to do is dial the 7 digit number; for long distance, dial the 11 digits (1 + Area Code + Local Number)

What are some advantages of using VoIP?

-They are cost-effective
-Unlimited calling in the United States and Canada
-All the features are included (voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, 3-way, call forwarding and much more)
-VoIP is portable.  You can take the phone adapter anywhere where there is an existing Internet connection, plug it in and make calls as if you were at home.
-The ability to choose your own area code.  You can live in New York and choose to have a California telephone number.

Are there any disadvantages to using VoIP?

-If you lose power at your location, you will also lose your Internet connection and therefore your phone service will be down.   Some VoIP service providers offer a feature that allows customers to designate a frowarding number if their Internet connection goes down for any reason.  Ask us about this service.
-Not all VoIP Providers offer E911, meaing that if you call E911 from your VoIP phone it may not go to the local dispatcher.
-The call quality can be affected at certain times of the day due to bandwidth sharing or a slow Internet connection.
